It wouldn’t be Port Macquarie without a cocktail and some live tunes at Zebu – one of Port Macquarie’s most iconic waterfront venues. This funky bar and grill with a quirky name derived from a humped Brahmin cow and the Tibetan word “Ceba,” has become a fixture for locals, corporate and visitors for its vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere.
Gobsmacked by how amazing the food here was! Staying in the adjoining hotel and just had room service – never very high expectations, which made the quality of what I ordered an even better surprise. Salmon with chorizo, potato and guacamole was perfectly cooked and presented and had the crispiest skin imaginable. Dessert of banana ‘textures’ with caramel and brioche was out of this world – the kind of treat you could eat forever. All this late on a Sunday night when I imagine a kitchen isn’t as fired up as it might be on a Friday or Saturday, and the prices were unbelievable for the quality – $21 for the salmon, $15 for the dessert. Went to another restaurant this week with mains for $45 and this place leaves it in the dust. If I could give six stars, I would!
